LATE BREAKING NEWS:

LATE TUESDAY, MARCH 24, 2026, IN THE VERMILLIONCOUNTY COURT, A CLASS A MISDEMEANOR CASE AGAINST ALEXANDRA WILSON, WAS EXPUNGED. ALEXANDRA WILSON WAS 18 YEARS OLD AT THE TIMETHE CASE WAS ADJUDICATED.
AND ISN'T THAT INTERESTING?????

The case first became of interest recently when Alexandra Wilson filed as a Republican candidate for Senator of Indiana’s 38th District, a position currently held by Senator GREG GOODE. Vigo County Republican, BRENDA WILSON, had also filed in the primary race. And that’s when it got messy. Brenda W. became aware that ALEXANDRA WILSON had initially been charged with a ‘Low Level Felony’ before pleading to a ‘Class A Misdemeanor. ’Brenda still maintains Alexandra is not eligible to hold the office. Now the ladies are in court with their attorneys and motions have been filed.

But they better get a move on —because time is being wasted!
Absentee ballots are being mailed out now.

And big kudos to the city for cleaning up a very big mess left at a quite large homeless camp on the city’s far east side just off Fruitridge and Wabash, between Union
Hospital’s medical facility and the Marine Corps establishment. When a buyer for the land discovered the remains of the encampment there was such plunder left
behind by the homeless folks, only the resources of the city were adequate to cope with it.
This was a clarion call to those who saw the conditions
in which homeless folks live that many among us are not
enjoying the benefits of the American way and do the
best they can to survive.
How we best address it best is obviously yet to be
determined.
What a great showing by the TERRE HAUTE NORTH
PATRIOT BASKETBALL TEAM this season! These
fabulous athletes were nothing short of spectacular!

These guys could not have made us prouder and
there is no limit to the possibilities for young men who
have reached heights these young champions have
already attained!

INDIANA STATE UNIVERSITY SYCAMORE MEN’S TEAM
had a rough year — but what a great and wonderful
bunch of guys they are. They are constantly stopped
around town with requests for autographs and photos
with kids!
BRUNO ALOCEN - His growth as a player in one year has
been amazing! Hopefully he might stay. He hails from
Barcelona, Spain and that hot Spanish blood fires him up
on the hardwood and as he makes a mad run down the
court and slams the ball home, the ladies do SWOON! His
addition to next year’s team could sell MANY tickets for
next season — lots of fans would return to cheer for
Bruno! $$$
COOPER BEAN - He is a solid athlete — Cooper is much
loved in Terre Haute —- his grandmother is former mayor
Judy Anderson & Grandpapa is former semi-pro
footballer & coach, Brent Anderson. Cooper never got
enough playing time to suit fans - but when he did, fans
loved it. He’s a solid guy, and when he was out there,
the crowd went wild. His 3-pointer is fire!

XAVIER HALL - This Kansas kid is a speed demon on the
court - extremely clever getting to the basket. He’s a fire
ant on the court! This senior graduated. Too sad.
HUNTER HARDNG - At 7’1” and only a freshman, he’s still
growing! And he’s a brute for opponents! He’ll be a
millionaire when he grows up! $$$$$# He’s movin’ on.
MARKUS HARDING - An absolute brick wall on the court
~ he can stop an opponent cold in his tracks and he’s a
beast at bringing down a rebound. He's outta here.
SIVERT WAERSTAD NORDHEIM - Seriously faster than a
speeding bullet! This Norwegian is going to be big bad
legend. Many would love to keep him here, but he’s gone.
ENEL ST. BERNARD - This Jamaican gentleman is a
paradox. Off court he is as gentle a soul as you'll ever
meet. But on the hardwood, he will run you over like a
herd of raging bulls, stomp you into the dirt, set your
corpse ablaze and file his nails as he watches the flames
die out. Sadly, this big fella is seeking greener pastures.
IAN SCOTT - The Plainfield Physician-to-be...oh, how we
wish he had been here all four years of his college
career! This gentile, intellectual, fabulous athlete is just
a joy to have on campus and on the hardwood. His entire
family is legend at Indiana State. He excels at everything
he touches.

JO VAN BUGGENHOUT - If only Jo had gotten more
playing time... But we'll be talking about his three-
quarter-court buzzer beater against Bradley for many
moons!!! This writer believes Jo-VB was woefully under-
utilized - but no coach gives a carp what this civilian
thinks. Nevertheless, I will talk about Jo’s three-quarter
court shot against Bradley for many seasons, while Jo is
burning up the court somewhere out there with a
pocketful of NIL $!
DEREK VORST - Never, was there ever a nicer dude than
Derek Vorst. He loves ISU - and he has played his heart
out for Sycamore fans. He played sick, hurt, when he
could barely walk — because he knew his team needed
him. He is true blue - through and through. He will excel
at life -- and he sure does deserve it! It’d be great if he
comes back for another season, but this writer knows for
a fact he was being scouted last week.
CAMP WAGNER - And here’s another Bonafide, excellent,
totally wonderful, Christian dude, true to his school guy
who has given everything he could - and more. Camp
has loved being a Sycamore - and it hasn’t always been
easy. But he is first-class. He has not only learned at
Indiana State. He has taught others how to give back.

JAYAN WALKER - Jayan has a great basketball future. So
many fans waited for him to get in the game, but it was
just not to be. He got kind of a bum steer, getting little
playing time It’s difficult when a guy at this point in his
college life burns up an entire year waiting to get
minutes on the floor and it doesn’t happen. But Jayan’s a
very good dude. And good things will happen to him. He
never bad mouthed the school. He sucked it up. He has
class.
STERLING YOUNG - Sleek, extremely cool, very fast, all
business & a lot of character. Oh, and he is a character!
Sterling is from Queens, New York. He will very likely
play at some exotic place in Europe and he'll fit right in.
He’s a very put together kind of character, keeps his
counsel, and takes care of business. Did I say he is very
handsome and well put together and always looks as if
he just stepped off the fashion runway. It would be
interesting to find out what his impressions are, as a
New York City slicker, living in Terre Haute.
So, there they are... a little look back at your 2025-26
Indiana State University Sycamores - a really a great
bunch of guys, they played their hearts out for us and
most of them now move on into that big ol’ world. How
we hope they know how much we appreciated them for
the hard work they put in day after day, week after week,
month after month, playing through bumps and bruises
and honest to gosh serious injuries — for our
entertainment and yes, for their education.
Not only did they practice and work out for hours every
day they also went to class and studied and prepared
papers and took tests. And traveled to away games - on
buses and planes and stayed in hotels and motels and
ate their meals out of boxes and waxed paper and throw-
away cups.
It is difficult - rigorous and dull and boring. And how
humiliating in a losing streak when you're working as
hard as you can and you can’t catch a break? And when
some Neanderthal who’s never held a basketball writes
ignorant messages online about one of your teammates
or coaches or You — it sure doesn’t help the cause. But
they Marched On! They were — and ARE - & will always
be SYCAMORES!

For a school like ISU, with a very small group of big
money people, the NCAA’S NIL (name likeness & image
money paid to athletes in the college) made it extremely
difficult for a school the size of ISU to put together
money to buy the big ‘power’ athletes who can compete
with schools like Murray State & Belmont & Bradley. It
was big-time lucky that a couple of heavy hitters
cranked-up the ISU NIL jackpot toward the stratosphere
- maybe in the million buckaroos or so. And that sounds
like a whoppin’ bunch-o-dough. And it is. But in the NIL
scheme of things, it might only get ISU toward the
middle of the Missouri Valley Conference basketball
scheme of things in the 2026-27 season.
Indiana State fans left the last basketball game
disgruntled for the season -- griping and snorting that
they wouldn’t buy season tickets next year after so many
failures to close out games. Fans felt we should have won. Lousy substitutions, and on and on. They want new coaches.
“We were ahead in the last 3-1/2 minutes!”
“They didn’t do anything!”
Wah! Grumble! Moan! “Same as last time!”

Okay. Let’s get a grip. Coach Schertz had a pretty rough
start. And in all fairness, you gotta give Graves a bit of
slack on that triple bypass at the start of the season.
Itwas tough. And the guys played some good basketball.
The fans did hang in there. But it became hard to watch
the lead disappear toward the end of the season and see
those guys on the bench whom you think ought to get in
and they don’t. But what do I know. I’m not the coach.
But then we lost. And again, we lost. And again.
But when folks get online and trash the coaches and the
program and say they won’t buy season tickets for next
year — that’s telling people and players who might be
thinking about coming here just what a bunch of big
dumb goobers there are here. And to you maroons
writing ignorant stuff online, you cannot imagine how
ignorant your rants make you appear. Basketball games
are entertainment -- not a lung transplant.
The winning season starts this autumn. Those young
players played their butts off this year. They wanted to
win! Didn’t happen. So, we must try again next season.
Only one team will be champion in the whole country! It
wasn’t us this time. And all of you blowing off that
you’re not going to buy season tickets because of “dah
dit dah dat dah duther” -- if you’re so great at coaching,
why haven’t we ever heard of you?
I’m buying my tickets. Cripes. I never heard of Larry
Bird and Bobby Heaton and Carl Nicks and Leroy Staley
and Brad Miley before that season. Heck, I’m not sure I
coulda picked Bill Hodges out of a line up until the year
was half over! I’m buying my tickets. That’s all I got on
the subject.

What a great run by the ST.LOUIS BILLIKENS Basketball Super Stars! We still have dibs on sweet little ROBBIE AVILA !!! Okay — so he’s not so little...but he sure is sweet!!! And this writer had the great pleasure of attending SENIOR NIGHT for ROBBIE & his teammate, JADEN SCHERTZ.

Those two seniors were starters, and it was lovely to see the faces of Robbie's parents, beaming with pride as their son absolutely blew the roof off the place with a spectacular performance ...and watching Coach Josh's eyes fill with so much love as Jaden took the ball down the court was worth the trip. The Billikens skinned Loyola and the Senior ceremony was both sweet and nostalgic as we watched Robbie & Jaden cut down the nets. Seems like yesterday that gangly kid in his spectacles showed up in the Hulman Center with that new coach from eastern Tennessee and what a whirlwind it all was. It’d be nice if every could just wish everybody well.

Talk about a Remarkable Woman...WTWO-TV has its
series running and SISTER DOROTHY RASCHE of Sisters
of Providence has been nominated. I’m not trying to
influence the outcome because there are some very
influential candidates. But that Sr. Dorothy is one mighty
powerful angel. You cannot imagine the
accomplishments that lady had had a hand in for the
western side of the county - and a lot of other places as

well. But West Terre Haute has reaped enormous
benefits. Housing Rehab! New Senior Housing! New
Business! Trash Pick Up! Pharmacy! Library! Bus Service!
a Safe Walkway across Grade connecting West Terre
Haute to Terre Haute! That community is extremely
fortunate Sr. Dorothy Rasche became a member of the
Sisters of Providence. She has greatly enhanced the little
town of West Terre Haute, as they say, by the grace of
God — and the grit of Sister Dorothy!
